Ginny

I drew this because I was tired of drawing tiny head shots. I’m finding that while this new look is different there’s a bunch of things about it that I recognize from earlier pictures of mine. Anyway here’s Ginny with her Jacob’s ladder wand. She’s smiling while sitting on a chair. =D

(Did you know that Jacob ladder’s have a purpose? I swear, I always thought they were just used as props in horror movies. Snicker.)

Ginny

It’s mostly cellshaded in Photoshop CS but I’ve added a slight blur to each of the separated color areas like the chair to make the shading softer. I used Preserve Transparency on the layers so the blur filter doesn’t spread outside the areas I wanted. Pretty interesting but it needs quite a few layers and some other cheating so it’s not a mess. Heh, the smooth lines are really not THAT smooth I just colorize the lines and it looks neater than it is…

The original ink drawing has been sold for this picture.

Random Hot Guy

The experimentation continues. This is another tiny picture out of my sketch book. This time I drew a hot dude. =]

The tiny 2×2 original ink drawing is for sale and I could probably make small prints. Comment on this post for information.

Test Girl

Hmm, she was suppose to be Japanese… heh heh she looks more eastern Indian or Spanish. Quick coloring in Photoshop using the airbrush tool and some color dodge. This picture is about 2″ x 2″ in my new leather sketch book. I also drew a kitty and another better picture of Charon. Mostly just fooling around. =D

New Looking Charon Design

Here’s a really recent picture of my character Charon. Hmm, I seem to be loving the look of winter fashion recently. Not sure why since I live in Texas and hate the cold. Brrr. Maybe it’s the Harry Potter thing and my love of cute scarves.

Charon with a Scarf

Ponders the above picture of Charon. I was adjusting this character to be in a slightly different style based on a different picture I drew recently just to see if it was doable. It seems my style is moving again. Not sure where it thinks it’s going but it wants giant brush line inking and tiny pen inking as well… also it thinks it’s a great idea that I start cross hatching again.

I love crosshatching, I do, don’t get me wrong but it’s somewhat(terribly) time intensive. And if you pause to rightly consider just how much you might mess up the picture. Well then, it tends to take forever to get the courage to go at it. Very troublesome. But the effect is pretty and the Zen state of doing tiny little lines and moving the paper around just so to do the next little set of lines… ah bliss.

I think my art also desires heavy blacks but just not on this picture. Ugh it’s so hard to just cover something in shadow. My brain fights the art in that. Battle to the DEATH!

This picture is on a 4″x6″ index card… also I did some cosmetic touch up to his face in Photoshop. Should you desire to own the picture for some reason comment me for info.
