Super tiny Unicorn

This will literally be printed about the size of a postage stamp. So, I thought I’d post it here large enough to actually see it. This is for a comic I’m working on ever so slowly. Damn me. Unicorn!

I go back to inking in Painter. =]

Horses and cars

A note on art: Drawing horses are difficult –> Picture of unicorn!. I’m really getting back to my roots as a girl… it’s a good thing though that I get to add weaponry or I’d feel all out of sorts.

Also I need to take my car in and have a patch put on one of the tires. I don’t like car things so I procrastinate… I wonder how long it will take me to get it fixed. Just to keep track: it’s already been 2 days.

I need to answer some people. Sorry, I’ve been sleeping too much recently.

Interview in Animerica, May issue

Heh, I got woken up out of bed to answer the door and it turns out to be my copies of Animerica where inside is a short interview with me, Michael Vega and Che Gilson. Looky here’s the cover:

Animerica, with interview of me...

I mention people including Carla Speed McNeil, Eddie Perkins, Radio Comix, and Antarctic Press. =D Snicker, I even mention you by name Elin.

Jason approached us about a month ago but I’d thought I’d wait and see it actually come out before posting about it. Heh heh, at some point I’ll need to post up the full version of the interview.

I’m think my priorities are pretty weird because most of what I was interested in seeing with the interview was if the screen tone on my comic page would print nicely (It did! Even shrunk down it looks good! Twirls!) then the content of my interview.

Thankfully everything in the interview turned out great. There’s a few question and answers that weren’t used but this is pretty sweet. Thanks Jason Thompson! Although leaving out the extra Fullmetal Alchemist preview made me sad. I searched the package you sent and everything. =[

Toning and Exercise and more toning…

Yo, wow it’s been busy around here. I took on some more “Bill and Ted” gray toning so it’s been ~zip ~zip ~zip. Things are going well on that front as I’m quickly remembering all the terrible things you can do with gray toning. Anything as complex as this requires a curtain ability to hedge. Tricky but fun.

I helped my friend Shawnna move this Friday and Saturday. Was mostly small things but everyone was tired out after it. Also I totally played with her rats which are the greatest pets ever. They sit on your shoulders! We also washed the little rat litter that she’d adopted from a rat breeder. They are really cute but fear the water. They climb up your arms if your not careful.

She gave me a bunch of stuff to not have to move it to her new apartment or take to Goodwill. So I have a bunch of costume jewelry that I’m not sure what to do with. I might photograph them and put them up on here to see if anyone wants to purchase. They would be cheap and I have other things that I want to sell as well. There’s too much manga in my house. For example I’ve got #1-4 of the Japanese version of “Tenjo Tenge” that I want to sell… hmm. Maybe when the work relaxes.

I also got this from her:

Machine to work my tired self...

It’s like the weirdest machine but it really works out my arms so I’m happy. Also I can totally watch TV and use it. =D

Did some screen toning work for my friend Dave Roman on his “Astronaut Elementary” comic. It runs on Girlamatic here: Astronaut Elementary. Heh, but of course I’m too late to link to the actual comic I toned… since it was last week’s adventure.

I finished page 2 of my new comic. The complex crosshatched tree actually got even more complex and I’m pretty happy since I think I now see how the coloring will work. I’ve also got page 3 penciled. Which has an even bigger picture of the giant crosshatched tree to do. Happiness.

I’m still way behind on getting my PHP website completely up to date.

My next convention is A-kon in Dallas. I have a Komik Market table and 2 art show spaces… most of the art in the art show will be this new stuff I’ve been working on. In fact I made I giant 13 x 19 inch print of this picture for it.

Anyway I should get back to work. =D The “Bill and Ted” toning needs to be finished.

Conversation bits taken completely out of context

From LJ: http://www.livejournal.com/users/amegoddess/74562.html

Sometimes, I wonder if people take what I say in the wrong way…? When I say “I don’t want to make you look bad” that means that I’M scared that I might just suck and it’ll look bad because of the recommendation. NOT that I think I’m going to be better then you. O_o

EDIT: It’s suggested that this is what I should have said: “I don’t want to be an embarassment for you.” I’d also add “I mean, what if I suck?” to that… /EDIT

Not that anyone involved in the above conversation reads this journal or even that I think they may have taken that statement badly. (okay, I kind of think they might have thus this post.)

I just really wanted to at least clarify this just in case. Also I didn’t even realize until just now how this statement could cut backwards. Why must my words seem to do that? >_< Argh, I guess I just assume most people follow that I don’t think I’m that great… this entry is getting silly.

This has to be about the first actual personal thing I think I’ve posted in awhile… Screens comments.

Why am I up so early??

Return to Green Hollow Mini Comic Cover

Yay! It’s done, finally. Sorry this took so long. I finally finished the “Return to Green Hollow” Mini comic…

Silence… Yes yes, ah the excitement. Anyway for those who were interested here’s the new cover image for it:

Buy this image as a print at my online store!

On the actual printed versions you can see that the green book like area has a woven texture that I shamelessly scanned in off of a book. Yep. =D

You can purchase the mini comic here or you can buy it here and look at my other comics for sale.

You can also still read the comic online here if you want to.

Yay, for crosshatched trees!

Comic Progress, Inked Page 2

OMG, crosshatching! I love you!!! Check it out my love of creepy complex trees with crosshatching! Also part of the tree work is a total cheat… I mean the dark black areas are totally drawing in using a brush instead of crosshatched. But I don’t care. =D

From Page 2 the start of the dream…

Comic Preview page 2, crosshatched trees

I’m having lots of fun with this. =3

Comic Preview, New #4

Whew, I finished my page and looked at the script to find that it doesn’t have dialog. Laughs at self. The next few pages will be more comic like. I’m planing to ink those with heavy blacks and colorize the screen tone on them… heh heh. I have plans to make this a very odd comic done in completely loopy styles. My excuse is that the next few pages are a dream sequence. =]

The bed here was a complete mistake. I was having the hardest time coloring this and nothing was working, so on a lark I just drew this messy bed outline thing and then started to smooth it out. Then something clicked and it started to actually work… and I hate my brain. There was much yelling at the computer for the coloring here. Make no mistake, big struggle.

There are days where I wonder if I really should go back to pizza flipping. That’s a lot of fun by the way if I didn’t have to deal with costumers it’d be the best job ever. But then the art starts to work and it’s a great release to make the things in my head that plague me.

Here’s the final colored page:

Comic Preview #5, finished girl on bed

Looks at picture. I can make prints of this if anyone’s interested. =>

I’m really excited to draw some more on this comic. Too bad my stomach is not being nice to me. Lays in bed for the later half of the day. Maybe I’ll be able to sit a bit and draw my layouts for the next pages. >_<

This will be my slowest comic ever! Hopefully I can step up the pace a bit as I’d like to have a chunk of pages to show at San Diego Comic Con… I mean I’m going I might as well bring something. Besides I promised Brandon that he could see them and it’ll be sad if I only have 5 pages to show.

Heh heh, the subtitle groups are moving really quickly. There’s already a sub of the first “Loveless” episode. Watches it over and over now that I can understand it. Wiggles back to bed.

Comic Preview, New #3

I’ve finished the picture and I’m now moving along to the coloring, which by the way is really kicking me around. Pokes at it in Photoshop and in Painter.

Here’s an almost finished version of the page. The tassels on her pants aren’t finished and the background isn’t in… I’ll probably fudge that in the coloring anyway.

Comic Preview #4, mostly done

I had to take some photos of my legs to get the shadows correct on this picture, my early attempts were… funny. It’s a good thing I’m a wee girl and actually look like this character. Although, I can’t imagine where I’ll get reference for the dudes in this comic. Snicker, it’s a good thing I’m not going to be using this style for the whole thing. Besides I miss inking and cross hatching and toning and all that other stuff that also takes forever.

I should note that for anyone who knows me… yes this character has my hair. Except for the bangs I don’t like bangs and I don’t have bangs. However since I totally stole the actual hair style from Tavi’s hair several years ago… Tavi has those bangs.

Heh, just so we’re clear on that. =]
