Pitfalls of Awards

Man, who the hell do I vote for the Eisner awards? I really don’t read much Marvel or DC comics so I’ve no idea if any of them are any good. Help? Anyone out there like any of these books? I need some info.

Crosshatched Trees and Travel Expenses

Spent the day laying down coloring flats for page 3 of my comic and colorizing some crazy crosshatching and ink lines… still nowhere near finished with it. So instead, here’s one of the final colored panels from page 2 with the crazy crosshatched tree and all it’s white branches! Earlier version of panel here! Also this is a sample of how the coloring is going to look. It’s a mixture of Photoshop and Painter.

The very very complex, crosshatched, tree background of doom... and this is only a tiny panel of it.

Also I was wondering… has anyone taking the Greyhound bus before on a long trip? What’s it like? I want to go to these two conventions coming up and the plane tickets are 335 dollars. I don’t want to pay that much and there doesn’t seem to be any summer deals (It’s making me mad! Where are my deals of convention affording!! Shakes fists at Southwest. Why have I been forsaken?)

Is taking the bus worth the almost 200 dollar savings on both trips? Is it scary? I took the train once and it was awesome if a little boring. Although I really should have brought food things to eat. So, I’m just wondering. Any tips for a 30 hour bus trip? Please let me know! I will love you guys forever! T_T

I had cake today! It had ice cream in it and little stars on top. Yum!

Embarrassing marketing on products

You know, I don’t think manga is a fad but if I were to point to something that might make people think that way…

Garnier from the L’Oréal Group makes a new HAIR styling product that makes 80’s hair! Sadly they use a new buzz word and product is called… (I shit you not) Manga Head. <-- take a look at their website for it!

Snicker, the whole site is just quality design. From the music to the amazing comic, to the hair styles and the descriptions. Giant hair is here again... did it ever go away?

Edit: Just as a side note my friend who looked much closer at the site relayed to me that in the section that’s a comic they messed up the genders for who reads Shojo and Shonen. Also that her Japanese friends tell her that “Cosplay” in Japan actually refers to the sex fetish for costuming. O_o!! Whoops! End Edit.

Next there’s “Bling it on.” Which has to be seen to truly feel the pain. Here’s a link to the commercial for this amazing new product that adds Bling to your life. When I first saw this add on TV I took a double take and wondered if I was watching South Park.

I’m tempted to buy “Bling it on” as a joke gift if only it didn’t mean that I would be giving them money… I do love how hard they make out “Blinging” your cell phone is with glue. =D

Saiko and Lavender!

Yay, my birthday came and went. Spent most of today sleeping but did move around a little bit.

I even drew this thing!

Saiko and Saiko and Lavender. Now in wacky human mode!

Wheee. It’s Saiko and Lavender but now as FREAKY flesh people!! Mike was telling me about a story idea he had that involved brief human version of these normally toony animal characters. Heh, I love these characters. By the way the blond bunny girl is faster then light speed!! …for some reason that we never get into. That’s why there’s two of her! I’ve got to post up some of the old Saiko and Lavender comics so the random people that read my journal will understand. =]

Started grey toning(Is it gray or is it grey? I can never tell.) on a new batch of Bill and Ted pages. The first thing I always do with the toning work is to open the pages up and read through them. It gives me a feel for the comic pages I’m going to be toning my way through. The comics for Bill and Ted are great. They capture the character, humor, and feel of the movies while still being their own thing. It’s neat.

Best line in the last batch of B&T was “Be a guy, dude!” said by Ted. Best line in the new batch was “Yah! I’m fully thrown for being way attracted to those babely Bill and Ted’s!” said by Ted of all people. O_o Sadly, I’m not toning that page batch… but I did read them.

Must tone… also I need to crosshatch another tree. =D

Heh… B-day.

Snicker. I think it’s funny that I forgot my own birthday. =]

The Ghost Girl

Whew. Finally I’ve finished moving almost everything off of the old site and onto my new swanky PHP site! I’ve removed the index page and now the new site is live. Yay! Does a little dance… however I’ve already found a flaw with my coding.

In some versions of Explorer the side bar and the main content box get all messed up. I’m not sure what’s causing that but I suspect that it’s something to do with Style Sheets and the Float command. Please stop by and look at my site and see if it’s working with your browser. [Link!]

Someone commented that she was pretty Gothic Lolita… but sadly she’s just suppose to be from 1890. Historical ghosts and all.

This was drawn as a tiny little sketch and basically completely redrawn in Painter as a black and white picture. The color was added in Photoshop 7 and was all line coloring. There’s no actually canvas coloring on this picture.

Eeep, I escape my web coding cave! Flings self out of house!

Amazon: Saiko and Lavender

Well, it looks like Amazon has finally gotten Saiko and Lavender back in stock. While I enjoy selling the graphic that collects issues 1-5 of the mini series right here on my website for 17.00 (price includes us shipping): Wiggle your own Saiko and Lavender Graphic copy flung directly from the dark pit that is my room. Sometimes though I think it might be of note to point you guys to some of the other vendors that stock this fine, fine, wacky product… wow I’m an add piece. =]

Anyway…

Thus here is the Amazon page to order Saiko and Lavender
… sometimes it’s cheap at under 10.00 and sometimes it’s 14.99+1.99 to special order it. Neither price includes shipping. Note my useless Amazon ranking. At least, I’m not obsessing about it… refreshes the page. Again and again. Also there’s no reviews, not that I’m surprised. However at least my name is spelled correctly! Bonus!

Also as an added love link and for shopping fun… here’s the Saiko and Lavender book direct from Radio Comix for 16.99.

Oh and here is my comic ordering page on the new site. I really need to put up the rest of my site and start posting up more of my comics and prints… meep so slow.

(Sorry for this giant advertising post… next time art!)

My eye!

I was working, everything was good. Then my eye started to give me trouble… it took me a day or two to notice. Now, I look like this:

My eye is all messed up

Whee. Lovely, I don’t want my weird oddly dilated eye to also get all puffy. It makes me both look tired and feel tired. Well, I guess since I have a birthday in May that means I may get parents to pay for the eye doctor because I’ve got no health insurance. Thank you government. Thank you comics.

I’m behind on work now.

Hopefully my eye problems will be something non-life treating.

In other news I burned my rice soup and feel too bad to make more. I’m usually much better in the kitchen but now I’m going to drive for cheap fast food. I need to post some more art/feel better.
