I love the tiny evil bit of fire under the suggestion box. It looks so happy to burn. Also Stanley the giant badger like monster thing is awesome. He’ll eat that bus when we’re not looking. =D

I Drew a Children’s Comic!

LOL, I think it’d be best not to ask why I drew this. However I do have a story for a comic with this name I just can’t bring myself to get it down on paper. Also my recent comic dry spell (now 2 years in the running) makes getting things done all tough. =(

I did however finish one My Muse page on Christmas so I’ve got a backlog of 2 pages still. Now if only I can finish the page that should go before it or the page after it… then I’ll be good to go.

Weeping.

Saiko and Lavender and My Muse

Sorry, with Christmas I forgot to post about the comic updates. So here they are:

Snicker, I still get tripped up by an early typo that Mike had in the script where instead of reading “All those bribes” it instead read “All those brides.”

And I couldn’t seem to figure out why Lavender was giving people brides at all. This bothered me for a bit until I asked Mike about it and found out it was a mistake…

Still what would she need all those brides for?

I look at eye lemons…

Ah the internet again… My Muse may go on hiatus here for a little while as I think I’m very close to the end of the batch I’ve pre-drawn and I haven’t finished anymore. But maybe not. I think I have 2 more of these finished but one of them, the next one in fact, needs a follow up or something before it gets posted.

I need to get ahead on my real job and then I need to pound my brain against a rock until it shuts up and lets me work.

Christmas card inked

Oh boy, so I asked for help on ideas for the Christmas card thing and then end up getting an idea from Mom for one that I drew… Sorry guys, thanks for helping though. I will probably draw some of them for other years. Most of them were awesome suggestions. Thank you so much, you all are really the best. As for the card I did draw…

Thing that I should never do again:

–Art Nouveau
–Complex hair bits
–Complex shit in the backgrounds
–Art that has to be blown up to 11 x 15 to be inked
–Jingle bells
–Art nouveau (hiss)
–Sneaking in things like the fact that picture is based off of a Harry Potter fanfic where Draco is a Ravenclaw and dates Cho… Shhhh! Don’t tell anyone.
–Nagging idea to color this one in as time consumingly neat new coloring style as I can think of

Why do I make things hard for myself? Anyway picture!

Christmas Card!

Yay, now I think I should color it… hmm, ponders if I could get away with the Christmassy gradient instead of real colors… May show family and see if I can. Then I can take all the time I want coloring it up instead of worrying if it’ll be done before Christmas. =D

Christmas Card!!

Oh christ, meeeeh. I need an idea for a Christmas card! I just, I’m drawing a blank and parents want the card soon so they can send them out sometime before the holiday and stuff. I’ve no idea. It’s always like this. Bangs head on a rock over and over. All of my ideas are retarded or I just don’t want to do them or I’m a hopeless mental case that tries to pawn pictures on to the family that only make sense to me. I’ve done this more then once.

Ideas, give me a holiday idea! Something sort of festive. I can draw cats! Or kids! Or something.

Snort, when the mouse girl says, “But the window was hardly big enough for me to crash through, so what good is it?” She’s referencing the fact that the window ON the door is too small for her to make a dramatic entrance and that’s why she didn’t use the door.

I really should not have cut off the mouse girls ear in that one panel… but I just didn’t want to make her smaller… I blame Mike and his pesky words! Yeah, that’s the ticket.

Sorry, I should have posted about this last Thursday.

Doubt eats Taco!

Possible T-shirt design… This was something I’d been messing around with for a t-shirt. Because who doesn’t love Doubt eating a taco?

Not sure if there would be enough demand for me to print a shirt though. So I thought I’d throw this out here and see what you guys thought of him. Also I’m running out my backlog of My Muse comics. I need to get back to work making more of them.

Also, Does he need like a word balloon or something… I keep think he should to be saying “Taco!” but then I think about it and that seems really really random. Other problems included me wanting to put a piece of text below him but the idea for said text broke down to the word “Tacos!” or “Doubt loves Tacos” neither of which makes any sense. Snicker, Maybe I should just run it without anything.

Anyway, there it is. Throws it out and ducks and covers. Right now there are no plans for a T-shirt since they are expensive to make but here this is. Maybe T-shirts later? Hides.

X-mas wish list meme + cards!

X-mas wish list meme Wish list meme instructions.

Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered…whatever you’re comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all. The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it’s your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two:

- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here’s the important part:

- If you see a wish you can grant, and it’s in your heart to do so, make someone’s wish come true. Sometimes someone’s trash is another’s treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don’t want or a gift certificate you won’t use–or even know where you could get someone’s dream purebred Basset Hound for free–do it.

You needn’t spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn’t to put people out, it’s to provide everyone a chance to be someone else’s holiday elf–to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not–it’s your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just…wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you’ll have the joy of knowing you made someone’s holiday special.

This year, I’ve giving this more thought. Here’s what I would like for christmas.

LIST

1: Word of mouth. I have the hardest time getting people to notice that I’m doing art and since I’ve started the webcomic nation site I’ve been thinking about it more. I’ve noticed that my hits have picked up slightly but it seems I’m still way off most people’s radar. If you’d like to do something nice for me this is the one I’d most hope for. Post about my art or talk about my comics… hell even if it’s to say you don’t like them. Mostly I just want to get my website and comic site links out there… IMPORTANT… please only post about my stuff once and in appropriate places. The best place would be some site you own, LJ, DA, or website. I don’t want to end up spamming people.

Links to my sites in case you’d like to try this one:

http://www.ghostcircles.com/dxs/
http://www.webcomicsnation.com/gc/

On the other hand feel free to avoid this one. I feel silly asking for help with word of mouth. I am lame. I just need to save some money to advertise or something. =_=

2. On that note, suggestions for good places to advertise my webcomics or website… cheap places if possible. LOL, I’m actually not sure where would be a good place since my comic stuff is all weird. But I think I need to start some ads if I want anyone to find them or buy my comics.

3: A Word Press theme that doesn’t suck. Mine has trouble in Explore. Also I’m getting tired of it but I’d hate to have to fuss with it again as I barely know how the hell I made it in the first place. I’d like to get one that adjusts to the size of your window. Two columns, no comments, with the cool calendar and list in the side bar. With gallery.php somehow integrated… fuck I keep forgetting to try and figure out how the gallery PHP script works. I need it to make a pretty catalog. Meh, anyway a theme. I need a new one.

4: Buy something at Amazon using a link from my site. If you click on any Amazon link from my site and then buy something you already want at Amazon I’ll get a present.

5: Christmas cards! I love getting them.

6: Mixed cd’s, Basically music. Right now I’m thinking of old fashion country music with powerful female vocalists or Johnny Cash or J-pop.

7: Maple Syrup candy. I can’t find it here but I love it a lot.

8: Regular Slim Jims. They even sell them in tiny 25 cent sizes.

9: DDR Extreme 2 for the PS2 and a Medium or hard Red Octane pad. (LOL I’m wishful here.) Yes! I be dancing! Although I’d still love to have a hard pad… =]

10: A new computer… mini mac? Tablet PC? (LOL) WACOM Cintiq? (Again I’m wishful although I kind of need a newer computer)

Last years wish list.

Address for love or presents (not home address):

Diana Sprinkle
P.O. Box 4444
Austin, TX 78765-4444

Oh and if you want a X-mas card send me you address by email (dianax [at] gmail [dot] com) or leave me your address as a comment… I can’t guaranty they’ll be sent before christmas but I’ll try. I don’t even have a design yet but send me your addresses anyway.

My Muse, Page 9
Page 9, Doubt is a bad feeling… Part 2

And there’s my personification of “Doubt.” So damn cute that kid is. I love this little guy, I’m actually working on his own comic as we speak.

A ‘Pity Party’ is the term I like to use for the little party in your head that you throw when you feel all alone and miserable. Usually when this happens all of the various bad things you’ve ever thought about yourself come out to dance and throw shit. It’s no fun.

Doubt is so cute though.

Movie: The Polar Express

Here’s my review of the Polar Express. I put it behind a cut because there’s some swearing.

Christmas the time honored time to make people feel bad for not being suckers… er believing in Santa. I went to see the Polar Express which WOW is heavy handed. Like a snow ball with a brick inside. It would really like to be light fluffy Christmas fare, yet, I felt crushed under the message of love, friends, and christmas spirit. Honestly though, I could get that message from the damn story! There was no need to grind my face down into the believe message and stick a foot on my neck until the film makers were quite sure I got it.

I actually like Christmas stuff but damn could you please ease back the believe in Santa engine. This was rather like watching a religious movie. Man, who cares if there’s some fat asshole that’s suppose to bringing you presents I thought the point of the holiday was being with family and friends and believing that even if shit sucks in your life that things can be better (also presents because who doesn’t love presents). Not that fucking fatty will toss you a gift down your f-ing chimney.

… and this is why I don’t actually review things most of the time. =/

Damn though, the movie would have been awesome if it was an hour and half of roller coster like rides and cool train stuff. The 3D Imax is like the best thing ever. They should do flying movies… (they probably do.)

The plot is fairly predictable. On the plus side I at least felt real emotion for and from the characters. Sadly if the heavy handedness hadn’t gotten in my way this would have been a pretty awesome Christmas movie. The story seems simple and nice and the computer people look good on the big giant screen of the Imax except for Santa who looked like he’d been dipped in wax. This movie probably loses a lot on a regular screen or on the TV.

Trite is the word I’d use for this movie and it didn’t have to be like that! When even the main character is saying “alright already I get it.” I think you’ve reached past obvious and into the problem I have with most kid’s fair which is that it feels the need to tell you WHAT and HOW to think instead of just telling you a story.

Anyway you can buy the The Polar Express DVD of the movie here but the experience will be tiny and less 3D than going to an IMax… strangely though it’s about the same price either way as the Imax ticket here were 12 bucks a person. Totally worth it over owning the DVD in my mind. Oh and here where you can get the original 32 page children’s book the movie was based on.

Over all, I’d give it a pass unless you can see it at a 3D Imax theater.
