Heh, here’s a colored version of one of the donation sketches I’ve made for the people who kindly sent me donations recently.
So far, I’ve been using the money to advertise the comic and that has been helping a little to get the word out to more people. I plan to get back to that now all the conventions have gone by. Whew.
Anyway thanks for reading my comic. Sorry I missed last weeks update and all. =]

Some times I find little comments on-line about this webcomic that reference that there seems to be a lot of teeny tiny words on the pages… Well, there’s no real way to not admit that yeah it’s all over the place. But originally this comic was printed and all of the little bits were mostly readable. Except for those that weren’t for which I’m sorry. =]
It’s allll part of the fun of taking something made for one medium and putting it in to a wholly different medium.
I’m really glad to have started this webcomic site. If anything, it’s helped to gather most of the people who’ve picked up Saiko and Lavender as a lark from their comic shop, got it in grab bags from cons, read it from friends, or in a few cases stole it from friends.
This page is accidentally all late because I left early on Thursday for San Diego Comic Con and forgot that I was supposed to post the page until we were an hour on the road… sorry about that. I have some thing to make up for it, which I’ll post tomorrow.
As for the bunch of tiny Saiko panels in the middle of this page… at one point Mike and me talked about making a 64 page Saiko special that way. It was going to be entirely from her point of view and just a jumble of neat and weird panels of Saiko’s day with her not understanding stuff and dealing with a world that almost stands still for her. This comic hasn’t happened yet. But I think about it now and then.
San Deigo Comic Con
I’ll be at San Diego Comic con this weekend. I’m not going to be at a table or anything so I’ll be hard to find. I figure I’d set some short meeting times if anyone wanted to meet up with me at the convention. =D
I’ll be hanging out in front of the Art Show entrance on the upper level during these times:
Thursday 4:00-4:30
Friday 1:00-1:30
Saturday 1:00-1:30
Sunday 1:00-1:30
If you run a table I’ll probably be walking around and should see most of you guys. But if you want to leave your table location it’ll make it easier for me to find you. =)
Hiphuggers dos and don’ts

Out in California, I keep seeing girls wearing the “don’t” part of this image. They are perfectly pretty girls but they really need to buy bigger pants cause they don’t seem to fit in the size they are wearing. Hiphuggers are suppose to fall right above your hips… not squeeze your flesh so you’re bulging all over.
I just thought I’d share. =]
The Do image was drawn from a photo in Teen Vogue. I figure I needed some figure drawing practice. Also my friends call the pudge on the don’t image, the “Muffin top.”

I find that Saiko’s super speed is pretty weird in that some times her other selves are doing something impossible or don’t have the same attributes. One of the Saiko’s here has the polka dot tongue but none of the others do.
One reviewer, somewhere, made note of those oddities of Saiko’s super speed and came to the conclusion that because it didn’t always work that she had to be at least two people. Which I find terribly fun… Cause well she’s a talking bunny girl and all.
We tend to go with whatever is funny for the most part with Saiko. So yeah her super speed is sometime ludicrous and yeah we know it… but it’s still super speed. =]
The potion Saiko eats is probably suppose to cure cancer or something but instead it turns her tongue all polka dotted and probably makes her sterile… in the comic version her tongue was gray and white and didn’t stand out at all so I made it black for the Graphic novel.
The note next to the potions that Saiko eats claims the potion to have been rejected… below that after the findings in the report it is stamped “Shipped”.
Test Page colored

I finally colored this page and wow there’s a lot of Photoshop trickery on this scan. On the top panel I pretty much adjusted all of the colors out to the two-color palette that I ended up using for the other two panels. I should just figure that unless I’m using all the colors that I should just limit my palette to two colors. Since using more just makes it look like a complete mess. The light and dark tones are fine even when the colors go to crap. Apparently I’m good with light and dark. Heh heh, I should just play around and see how color blindingly terrible originals I can make while still having the black and white versions be fine. EYE GOUGING color! That’s a really terrible idea. I should never do that. >_<
It’s not quite what I wanted but I sort of like the outcome anyway. Not sure if I’d use this for a full-length comic or not. I moved really quickly through the page so I’ll keep it in mind.
I’m spending some time out in California right now. I went to Anime Expo for about one day instead of two but it was interesting nonetheless. Lots of people are printing really fancy professional printed books in artist alley. I bought a few and asked some questions just to see what they were up to. They all looked really sharp but some of the stories were really um… first timey and some of them seemed rushed or expanded on and that seem to hurt the over all comic. But I’m guessing many of these guys are new to the whole comic thing.
Bought some tiny toys from the Final Fantasy games (Zadane and Tidus) and Metal Gear Solid 2 (Pliskin/Snake and Ninja). The MSG2 toys were alas not the series I wanted… Argh I still want the Raiden and Snake from the first set that no one has. I have them as Crappy American repaints but I want the real versions that don’t suck. Meh… well there’s still San Diego Comic Con.
I just got confirmation on my badge for San Diego and I should be arriving at the con sometime on Thursday morning, July the 20th. Still thinking out where to have a meet up so that people can find me. I’ll let you all know soon. More art laters. =)
