There’s also a version with no background. In this one you can see a little better what the glass vase looks like… it’s actually mostly filters and simple shading.

I really like this particular cat image and had a lot of fun digitally painting the flower petal by petal. Oh man, but the glass vase part of it gave me no end of trouble. Still, one of my favorite images in the folio. I recently posted another image using these little cat lilies, I really like the idea of them but I’m not sure I want to actually paint another close up image of one of them. LOL. Even though I totally have more ideas. =/

I talk to people a lot about my art, and my life, and just about anything in my head. Like most artists I tend to bounce ideas off of my friends, we riff on stuff and I’ll try to figure out what of my ideas work. Basically if you know me in real life I might talk your ears off about what I want to do unless you go running far away from me. Which does happen. =/ Stupid running people.

I talk to James Hanrahan (he wrote some of the early issues of Ninja High School and a whole bunch of other comics) a lot about my stuff. I’ll call him on the phone and we’ll yak about things. We’ve been doing this for years now. He’ll tell me his ideas and we’ll go back and forth trying to help each other out.

Sadly, a few years ago our big group of friends had a falling out of sorts. And whenever I would post or talk about me talking to James that would get him into trouble for a little while. So, I stopped posting about it and sort of stopped mentioning that I was talking to people, or who my friends even were.

But I do talk to people and ask for help on ideas.

Recently Me and James had totally been talked about stuff for my cute Catalyst folio and James helped me figure a bunch of stuff out and suggested little things that might be great pictures as stupid cats with weird thing happening. And I want to thank him for being there for me and listen and trying to help me out. Sorry I haven’t been talking about you much and don’t mean to down play your help. I’ve sort of been thinking it might get you in trouble even now. Not sure why… snicker oh wait. Still, You’re a great help and I hope your feeling better today!

Man, I completely forgot to post this outside of Deviant Art. Oops.

Wooot, the Udon guys finally gave the okay to post our winning Dark Stalkers Tribute images. I went all out and made a crazy complicated 5 character image with a background very close to the deadline. Felicia, B.B. Hood, Morrigan, Lilith and Q-bee are having a tea party but someone won’t share the honey.

This image was mostly done traditionally using markers… I just used the computer to change the greys into different colors and add a few highlights.

Made for San Diego Comic Con’s 2009 art show.

I was sketching a bird cage in the shape of a cat and then mixed in the idea of those diagrams that show the organs and ended up with the image of the mouse living inside a cat. The outside scene of his worried friend? relative? came when I was trying to figure out how to finish the background.

Sadly, this comic is completely accurate except for the final panel… I still need to mail a letter off to them letting the editor know I’m alive and making more pages. But I keep trying to finish more pages before I do. I’m not good with the business end of getting my stuff out there. =/

Yay, I’m back from Anthrocon… write up to follow. Short version: things went really well and I sold lots of stuff, ate awesome things, and meet cool people.

My next con is San Diego Comic Con which is coming up on me really quickly. I’m going to be selling my art and helping out at the Clubstripes booth, 1633. I’ll also have an art show panel or two filled with my art… of which I am making somewhat last minutely. =/ This is one of the images I’ve been working on but first some background…

Our house has this really giant nice looking backyard that my dad likes to use to grow vegetables and generally do little down to earth things. So, whenever my dad leaves to go do field work, he’s a paleontologist, he puts me in charge of watering the garden at home. And I always feel vaguely guilty as he tends to come back to dead plants. So, I drew a little picture of me watering something that hopefully I couldn’t kill but the image kept growing and growing until I had this.

Sorry dad! I’m trying. REALLY! Right now the heat wave we’re having in Texas is doing it’s best to shame me yet again. Come on little plants don’t fold up like a house a cards. Edit: These little cat lillies are actually from an image in the Catalyst folio… that now I’m realizing I really need to post up cause I haven’t posted it yet. Sorry about that.

Princess appears yet again… I debated if I should post these two pages or keep them for some sort of collection. But in the end it seem better to finish out the story. Also I need some time to keep making pages so up these go.
