My entry for Woot’s “Faster, Higher, Stronger” derby which is based on the Olympic motto. Voting ends on Thursday at Noon please toss me a vote, if you can.

I thought it’d be awesome to represent each word of the motto using item you collect in the Legend of Zelda video games… though they also work if you consider them to be Greek mythological items.

Faster = Pegasus boots/Hermes’ boots
Higher = Roc’s Feathers/Icarus’ feathers
Stronger = Power Bracelets/Hercules’ bracelets

YAY, the new paper I used for my bookmark test totally works and it bleeds to create that old fashioned effect that showed up on the green stripe cats. Pumps fist in the air.

All I want to draw is cats as stripes, which is bad since I should be working on a bunch of other projects. I made 2 of these pink ones trying to get the matt board to bleed through like it did on the first one. But I can’t seem to get the same look. Mildly frustrating. This is what I get for re-using old matt board that could be years old at this point. No way to know what caused the bleeding either. The art store guy I talked to about it didn’t believed that it was the paper since arylics aren’t supposed to do this… Something about acyrlics sealing stuff and things.

I’m trying a test project to see if it’s the paint… but I think it’s the paper. If it’s the paint, than at least green things will get that weird old fashion effect but that hinders me on color choice. =/ I have a painting planned that’s 20″ x 30″ eeeee I’m so excited my first large painting. I haven’t done one of those in a long time.

Anyway here is the first of my pink cat stripes!

Yay, it looks like I might be making art for an iphone game. I have no idea how that will go. Excitement.

I made another cat painting. This is a 5 x 7 image I made using acrylic paints on a scrap piece of black matt board. I based it on these striped journals I saw at the book store. I just keep thinking, “how can I make everything, even this simple striped journal, have cats hidden in it…?”

I wasn’t happy with the painting really and then I sealed it and suddenly the black of the matt board started to show through the painting, giving it this awesome antique look. Which totally brings everything together very nicely. I want to do a bunch of variant color versions of these guys. Maybe figure out a different way of doing the cats so they don’t have to be long cat vertical. LOL. Should be fun.

I want to do a pink/red one next.

New Threadless shirt submission is up. Wakka Wakka Wakka, it’s old school video game parody cat time. Because really, CATS are awesome! I like the idea of the ghosts as persian kittens.

Gingerbread men in lingerie is also still up for votes and comments.

And as a side note Threadless is running a deal on 10 dollar shirts for the next 3-days. Sadly I’ve already spend all of my cash on Teefury and Woot randoms shirts. The mystery of the shirts always drags me in.

After a restart of my iMac computer, Illustrator is now behaving and when I hold down the space bar it gives me the blessed hand icon. YAY! Now I can make me some more twinkling stars.

I took a ton of old anime magazines, teen magazines and some old VHS tapes down to Half Price Books and got a whole 7.00 for them. I’m just happy to get more space in my room, which is still far, far, far from being clean. I don’t know what I’m going to do when I make it to my comic collection. >:[ I fear a lot of it may get cut down.

…if I hit Adobe Illustrator with a rock… will that make it work better? Why Illustrator, why have you decided that the hand tool will not be selected with the “space bar”? This works in every other program you make, Adobe! Why is my CS3 special? Is this some intelligence test? Shawnna says I have to restart Illustrator for some reason, but will that work? I just want to make some stupid twinkling stars.

I’m hoping I can match the votes they received in their original derbies but the Second Chance derby is it’s own animal and that makes it hard to predict these things. I’ll let you guys know if I get printed with these. Please give them a vote if you can.

Wheee, I finished the fire version of the My Buddies series. I’m happy that I managed to pull off making the little cat faces look more like cats then they did in the sketch.

I also uploaded the original version of the My Buddies painting as a print in my shop. This was one of the wood paintings I did for the up coming art shows which I’ve actually mostly sold out of. I need to do some more paintings. The idea behind this image was more of cats budding to make new cats. But my mom thought it was more like a plant’s flower bud instead which was an awesome twist.

Now available as a print.

Shirt Woot is going to be having their Second Chance/Double Take derby starting this Thursday at noon. And I’m happy to report that I have 3 shirts returning to battle it out. Rabbit Family Tree, Circle of Cute and The Ugliest Duckling will all be back for votes. So I’m excited to see what happens with that. I’ll post links to the voting pages after they go up today.

I made another version of the My Buddies image but this time instead of flowers I made them out of flames. The kind of flames you see on cars… makes me wonder if I can make a version just made out of skulls somehow. Might be too hard though. Something about the flame shape looking like cat ears sort of helps this image work.

I’m planning to color this next but man I should be working on some of my real work. There’s shit to do and I just keep having problems sleeping and then spending my time making weird images instead. =V

Blah, anyway here’s some warm up sketches of Reason and Ego. I’m trying to get back to drawing them but I keep forgetting how I even went about drawing them so I have to draw them a ton to get back into a grove. I keep forgetting how much strange cartooning shape and form these characters have, they are really bendy. Most of the time I tend to forget my own characters unless I have reference for them, which always seems a little weird to me. Shouldn’t I remember how to draw my own characters?
