I thought I’d show my progression as I make an image. So I choose this rather complex one of Roy and Ed playing guitars, which is from a fanfiction I read.

I checked the faces of the characters against the manga and anime pictures from FMA that I have and fixed the faces. Roy was a little off and Ed’s hair was a little strange. Penciled this picture in 3 parts so that I didn’t have to struggle with the guitars and the mics, which were really complex, with the pencils of the characters. I used Photoshop to put the 3 pieces together so I could then ink from it.

I finished this picture early Thursday for A-kon 15′s art show. I have 6 steps in total for the drawing of this picture. This is part 3. Drawing the guitars and the microphones was tough. Mostly it was a lot of reference.

Just a test. Ugh. Painter hates me but I have a fondness for the water color brush. Although I hate that you can’t sample colors on a wet canvas.

Also I know that there is tracing paper in this version but I have no idea how to use it or what it does. Still I feel okay about this picture. Even if it’s not quite what I wanted and Ed is totaly off model. =_=;

More work on the picture of Ed and Roy in rock band… snicker. Here I’ve got Roy’s bass in and done but not Ed’s guitar. I plan for Ed to have a flying V guitar so that he and Roy don’t have the same looking instrument. Also Roy’s body will change directions since I don’t like it is it.

God, guitar’s are tough to draw. Also I’m avoiding Ed’s arm

This image is what my rough sketchs tend to look like. I’ll start with the rough placement of the characters and the face first. I’ve been trying to not work to much on the faces but that tends to be how I’ll start a pictrue. The guitars and the bodies are barely there but the faces are almost completely drawn though not to my tastes… they seem a bit odd. Update to come soon.

A quick sketch of Roy Mustang from Full Metal Alchemist. This was done just to get a feel for the character.

I probably have the sketch somewhere and would be willing to sell it. I’d have to locate it though.

This is a piece of a much bigger picture but so far I’ve only got Ed drawn in.

Just a simple drawing of Edward if he were about 3 years older. I drew this to remind myself that the character is actually 15 and I really shouldn’t be drawing him in such terrible poses (not shown of course because it’s embarrassing).

Original Sketch is tiny and somewhere in my room. I’d sell it, of course, if I can find it. Comment if you’re interested. =]
