I still have no idea what I’m doing with these markers. =<

5 things:

  • 1. Ikkicon, next week. I bought ink for my printer and now I need to use it. Focus!
  • 2. My car repair just ate my bank account. Oh boy, catalytic converter! At least, I’m glad I’d paid off my other bills already for this next month.
  • 3. Artichoke Hearts are delicious. Completely random. Yum.
  • 4. Culture clashes with politeness. – The comments are awesome on this one. It’s like what is polite can be rude and what’s rude is actually polite.
  • 5. Is anyone else running into problems with Firefox crashing and refusing to save bookmarks and instead saving random images as your bookmark…? That’s not the plural of bookmark cause it keeps saving over the same link over and over again. I tried re-instailing already. Oh and Firefox takes out Photoshop when it goes so Photoshop only pretends to save. HATE. >_<

6? From a Michael’s craft store ad printed April 08.

Michael's craft store ad printed April 08

So many questions arise from this ad… What is that girl carrying? A ballpoint pen? Why is she choking a teddy bear? What kind of outfit is that? I am truly afraid for the guy’s poor arms. Ah, Comic Sans, the only time you show up in this ad is right here. =(

Akon prep, cats everywhere

Akon prep, cats everywhere

It’s been one of those weeks. I’m covered in work like stinging ants and I’m also trying to get prepared for A-kon in Dallas this weekend. I plan to have a good time this year or there will be blood. Thankfully I’ve stocked up on low expectations and artists that I really want to give money to and maybe hang out with. Along with selling lots of Shawnna’s buttons (gleeee!), low hotel cost, and generally great friends… I’m hoping it will lack the loud music, porn stealing kids, and hotel elevator time sinks that the last few cons have had. Dear convention gods, stop letting other conventions set up tables in artist alley and do nothing but look bored and play music super loud, thank you.

I’m sharing a table in the Komik Market with my friend Shawnna, under Bassanimation. We’re in Section E, table 11… supposing that something doesn’t happen and we don’t get shuffled around in a musical chair type way. Crosses fingers. I’ll have my print book (with new prints even), some badges… or bookmarks (depending on how my laminator decides to function), and a crap load of buttons. Shawnna will have her giant spread of awesomely cute anime button heads… but my small offerings are mostly adorned with cute cats and food p0rn… @_@ I’ll post some after the con.

The food P0rn is not really as bad as it sounds. Really. Swing by and take a look… some of the kitty images are new due to the fact that I keep finding kitties on my hard drives that I finished and then forgot to post anywhere. This image of kitties I made for Valentine’s day is a good example… hell, I even went and made a web preview of the image and then wandered away. Distracted by, I don’t know, a piece of string maybe. Possible an internet argument.

I should post that cute cat comic I made, oh, those many years ago… only this time I should un-crowd the ending a bit. I was trying to cram it into 4 pages and I think it needed a bit more space. Or maybe better pacing. =/

I’m still working on my website store/gallery. It’s shaping up well I just need a little sliver of time to really kick myself into gear. I just didn’t realize how much art I had generated over the years that needs to be moved over in a logical way. Right now I’m not sure how logical a “people” section that’s 98 images big is… when all the other sections are under 20 images. Meh, I’ll figure it out.

I made a rough for an actual painting, which is odd for me. Normally I don’t bother with natural media but this image… it seems to want to be large and painted. It looks rather good even at it’s strange “I’m a scribble in photoshop with lots of cloned and resized bits and bobs” stage that it’s in right now. But it doesn’t want me to refine it, it seems to want to be rough in a way that requires some paint. It’s a companion to the website banner with the sleeping kitty. You can see part of the rough at the bottom of my website design with the yellow fish and the blue kitty. Now if I can just find the time.

In parting, I leave you with a link to Polyvore a site that I think I will be using to figure out outfits for future characters. If I had the time, I’d fiddle all day on this site making outfits and jumping from collection to collection.

Saiko and Lavender Cel

Saiko and Lavender Cel

Aww, the cuteness. I be dead. There’s a few things that I’m not too happy with but thanks to Photoshop I’ve fixed most of them on this web preview. Whee!

Saiko and Lavender colored cel

I painted the two characters on a cel using cheap acrylic paints (Brands: Apple Barrel, Ceramcoat, Folk art.) Then while waiting for the paint to dry I made the background totally in Photoshop using of all things the Path tool (Path tool is the devil but so tastely useful… anything that can make curved selection is pretty awesome). Then I printed the background out on to Bristol paper and then put the transparent cel over the background and scanned everything back in. Messed with some colors here and there and Tada. =d

Original color version not for sell as it’s going with me to Anthro-con. But I do have the original inks for sell. Leave me a comment if interested in learning how to buy.

Luci in the Graveyard

Luci in the Graveyard

Whew. Well, I’m back from A-kon. Convention report to follow as soon as I feel up to it which could mean tommorrow or never. I have to say though the convention was a bit bitter sweet. But to really talk about that I’d have to get in to my personal feelings on making art, anime fandom, and comics and lets just be kind and say that it would take a bit to explain.

What was really cool to see was old friends that had turned their art around and seem to be doing really well. Which well, brings up the topic above again. Not that my feelings are anyone’s fault but my own stupid brain…

Man, this post seems a bit random. Anyway I know I didn’t promise art but I put up some pictures in the A-kon art show that I haven’t posted here yet. So here’s one of them.

This was suppose to be the cover for one of my comics that is now on hold due to the story shifting on me. This one will probably get rewritten one or two more times. Maybe as a prose story since I seem to have to hardest time getting into the new charcters that are designed for it. There’s the main cast and then there’s the side cast. But the main cast aren’t that interesting without the side cast to work off of but the side cast isn’t as developed as the main cast. Frustration!

This is Luci. She is one of the main cast and I really, really, really like her. You may or may not remember her as an earlier picture called “The Shadow“. This is a more clear shot of her so you can see what she looks like. She’s in the same story as Charon, The Collector, the Kid, and Black, which are all part of the main cast again.

This picture had a quick skech and then was finished and inked in Painter 8. All of what little coloring there is was done in Photoshop 7. Luci looks out for the Kid in the story… she also likes to hurt people with her belts. =D

Ugh, I get back to cleaning up my room. The con prep destroyed it. I’m also planning to re-vamp my for sale page and fix up the site a bit.

The Ghost Girl

The Ghost Girl

Whew. Finally I’ve finished moving almost everything off of the old site and onto my new swanky PHP site! I’ve removed the index page and now the new site is live. Yay! Does a little dance… however I’ve already found a flaw with my coding.

In some versions of Explorer the side bar and the main content box get all messed up. I’m not sure what’s causing that but I suspect that it’s something to do with Style Sheets and the Float command. Please stop by and look at my site and see if it’s working with your browser. [Link!]

Also Art:

Ghostgirl

Someone commented that she was pretty Gothic Lolita… but sadly she’s just suppose to be from 1890. Historical ghosts and all.

This was drawn as a tiny little sketch and basically completely redrawn in Painter as a black and white picture. The color was added in Photoshop 7 and was all line coloring. There’s no actually canvas coloring on this picture.

Eeep, I escape my web coding cave! Flings self out of house!

Return to Green Hollow Mini Comic Cover

Return to Green Hollow Mini Comic Cover

Yay! It’s done, finally. Sorry this took so long. I finally finished the “Return to Green Hollow” Mini comic…

Silence… Yes yes, ah the excitement. Anyway for those who were interested here’s the new cover image for it:

On the actual printed versions you can see that the green book like area has a woven texture that I shamelessly scanned in off of a book. Yep. =D

You can purchase the mini comic here or you can buy it here and look at my other comics for sale.

You can also still read the comic online here if you want to.

Yay, for crosshatched trees!

Charon with his Wings

Charon with his Wings

So this is one of my characters from the comic I’m working on. His name is Charon. He’s got issues even though he looks so happy.

I purposely designed him to be every thing I wanted to draw. White overly complex hair, pouty lips, cool looking wings, obscenely tight clothing, and terror inducing giant manga eyes. Yep, he’s so much fun to draw it’s criminal.

Of course his revenge is to slowly become impossible to draw if not drawn often enough. Sadly he is not the most popular guy from the comic as most people like Black better. It’s probably because not everyone loves the sassy albino dudes like I do. =<

I don't think this picture made it to my site but I'm fairly sure it got posted to Live Journal... I think. Hazah.

He is a pencil drawing that was colored in PhotoShop 7.

I should probably get back to said comic but first I ink stuff for money.
