  8. Dear Matt,

Hi, my name’s Chris. I’ve been a fan of your art ever since I discovered your site a few years back (before the re-design). ‘Course, I never posted anything saying so :) Anyway, I have a request. I’d like to color one of your sketches. It’s the one of a cat-girl pirate – the filename is something like “pie-rat.jpg” I believe. I would be honored if I could! I should let you know now that I would post it on deviantART (my page is, if this posting doesn’t show), but I would give you credit for the original drawing.

Thank you for your time, and I hope to hear from you soon!

    Comment by Chris — June 20, 2007 @ 8:08 pm

  9. Hey, Matt.
I really don’t know you, I’ll be honest, but I’ve looked at your sketches and things, and I really dig the Magi-nation stuff, I want to know where you picked up that style of drawing, and if theres any tips you can give as to how its done, I’ve been in the process of designing some game aspects and I really like these kind of characters. I’ve been picking a few things out at a time and drawing them, you know just trying to the feel of it. Well anything would help I guess.

  13. I just thought it was quite interesting how one of your creations in the card game “Magi-Nation” was named a “Jile” and I find this quite thrilling since the artist that drew it has the last name “Holmberg” which is effectively my name, Jile Holmberg. I was just wondering how you might have came up with the name ?

    Kind Regards,
    Jile Holmberg

  20. I love your art. I use to be a big magi-nation fan, and the cards with your artwork on them were my favs. I’m not sure what happened to MND, but I miss it, and I absolutely hate the new show coming to Kids WB, because none of the new style resembles anything close to what you had to offer. Anyway, good luck with your future projects, and let me know if you become involved in another card game series. Pokemon just isn’t doing it for me.

  28. Hey there Matt. I was a magination group in Indianapolis, IN and I loved your art. Here is a little back ground on me. I’m a starting game designer. I got my degree in video game production in May of 2005 and I have an idea for a game that you can read on my website. Now What I need is some concept art that I can make 3d models out of. I can give basic ideas but I’m not the best concept artist. I was wondering if you would like to draw me some concept art for my game ideas. I could build the 3d models and send them back to you, and see what you think of my art. Drop me an email if you can. Thanks so much.

Are you set to do any new artwork for the card game when it is re-released? Just wondering. How is everybody else. Are you still in contact with the other artists? I hope the game comes out again soon and you are one of the artists working on it so we can hang out at the cons again. Gen Con was fun…Heres to the old days…Cheers!

Hello, your art style is something so fantastic with such versatile appeal, I was wondering I own a comic shop and would like to very much like to display some art, what would the charge be to do a Justice league, with the members Superman,Batman, wonder woman,Hal Jordan greenlantern, red tornado, green arrow, aquaman, supergirl, the flash, hawkman, martian Manhunter and firestorm. all in the style that you had done with wolverine, I was hoping to have them put all together as a group.
Let me know if that is something you might want to do.

  53. Hi, there

I just happened to stumble onto your website and your art is amazing!!

I’m an artist myself, I’ve been drawing for years, but I had this as a personal hobby and now I’ve focused on seriously developing my skills.

I try to detach myself from the “manga” style, although there lie my roots. I was just wondering, how do you come up with the dinamics of the human body that you apply so sillfully to your characters?

My weak points right now are on one hand the lack of dinamism, my characters are rather static (like posing for a family photo), and on the other my recently acquired abilities in digitalizing and painting my draws.

I wonder if you can help me out a little, how do you do your outlines and drafts? If you can put me in the right direction, I’d be grateful.

Thanks, man, keep up the good work!!

  54. I have to say I love your art style. I would so hire you to draw the cards when I finish my trading-card game. If only I was a major company or had any money at all. As it is, keep it up! And do your best!

I’ve finally come to the conclusion that you won’t, and because I can’t find you on facebook, I’m sad that I’ll never see more of your art… you are what made MND enjoyable, and you are what made me so sad to see MND go.

Please, at least tell me if you draw anymore… I don’t know how you couldn’t but weirder things have happened…

Shame there is no more if her :)

I know I do not have to ask you but it’s only fair as you put lots of effort and talent in this.

I’m sure you don’t remember but I spent quite a lot of time with you at a few Gen cons, back in the day. You even did an original work on my playmat. I always loved your work and would be very interested in getting a sketch or anything of Sorreah from you. I am the crazy guy who named my daughter Sorreah after the game. This work would mean a lot to my family and i would gladly pay for your time.

If nothing else seeing your work brings back a flood of great memories.
