“Wrong Rabbit”

I’m back and I bring you all new are. Here’s a design for woot’s “Literary Classics” derby. A riff on Alice in Wonderland, Alice chases the rabbit again but this one is a little different. I don’t think she’ll like the surprise. =D

Give me a vote if you can!

Meet me at San Diego Comic Con 2012!!!

AHHHH! My hair is on fire right now, I’m so behind. Right now I’m packing everything up to take to Comic Con. I leave tomorrow morning! Sadly my new posters aren’t making it to the convention but I will have a very limited quantity of my new art book Mystery Pets and a new sticker sheet! I will also have a new shirt design for the convention.

New Shirt For Comic COn, LOL cats

I really wanted to get some other stuff done including this post earlier in the week but as typical of me everything is put off until the last minute.

I will be in the Small Press Pavilion, Table N-05. Please come by and poke me if you’re going to the con. I’m in the same area I was last year so hopefully I’ll be easy to find.

Meet me at San Diego Comic Con

Meet me at San Diego Comic Con

Woooo, Comic con is fast approaching! And as my final convention of the summer season, it’s freaking me out a little. LOL I don’t know why I’ve been going to the stupid thing since 1994. =P Anyway this year I have my very own table to sell my work at, so I’m very excited about that.

I managed to get a “Small Press” table so I’ll be selling my art, prints, and shirts. Also new for this year I’ll have a 52 page, perfect bound, color art book of my weird animal art. The book looks so nice, I need to post up some pictures of it. I’m also going to have a new special T-shirt printed just for the con, but I have to wait to tell you guys about it until I make sure they’ll be printed in time. =D

Anyway here is a map of where I’ll be in the giant huge San Diego Convention center of Doom. My table is under the name “Diana Sprinkle” and is N-05 and I’ll have a giant banner of my puking cat behind me. So hopefully I won’t be too hard to miss. =P Stop on by and say hello!

I’m also going to have stuff in the art show. I’m so excited.

LOL In the fog need votes again on Woot

LOL In the fog need votes again on Woot

Ugh, so my “Fun house reflections” design has been in the fog (the top nine where you can’t see how many votes you have) every since the derby opened this week. THIS time I got the design in at the beginning of the derby.

Much like two weeks ago with my “Life Cycle of Caterpillar”(It ended in 4th, sadly though it was 4 votes ahead of 5th so thanks everyone!) I’m just not sure if I have enough votes to place in the top three so if any of you guys out there can vote, please log in and give me one. =D Or if you can’t vote(You have to have purchased one thing from woot to be able to vote in the derbies) spread the word! Tell a friend! The voting last until this Thursday at noon, about 24 hours.

I’m crossing my fingers on this one.

Thankfully I also have a Daily shirt for woot coming up at some point because these derbies are playing with my heart. =/ It’s a dinosaur shirt.

Staple! arghhh I cut myself

Staple! arghhh I cut myself

So I have Staple this weekend and that’s going really well. It is also going to be open on Sunday this year which is awesome. It’s in Austin Texas at the same venue that they had Blue Genie in. I like the comic crowd a lot they seem to want to read things and really like cats.

Then while trying to get some out of the closet and finally get some sleep I cut myself on some glass. Right on the back of my hand on my middle finger. Ugh! I had to wake up my mom to help me put some wound closure strips on it. Hopefully I can get people to help me move the stuff at the end of Staple into my car. I don’t think I should be moving my hand much and of course it’s the right hand. I think I can still draw and write… tests it out.

Looks like I can write but I have to hold my hand all weird. Not sure how drawing will go. Probably just really slow. =/

This sucks.

Comic Collection: 3.5 short boxes down 19 to go…

Comic Collection: 3.5 short boxes down 19 to go…

So I managed to clear a bunch of stuff out of my room and I uncovered both of my comic collections. I don’t think I’ve really looked at it in a few years, which is pretty crazy. I’ve been going through it all weekend. I’m sorting it into piles of comics I worked on(8 boxes), comics I read/collected(5 boxes), things I like or are worth something that I can feel comfortable selling to people(6 boxes), and things I want to set on fire(3 and half boxes).

Gah I think it says something about why I have so many comics in the first place that the smallest pile of comics just happens to be the pile that I can sell RIGHT away. Rolls eyes. I feel like I’m getting better about this though because the actually amount of comics that I want to hold on to should shake out to be around 6 or 7 boxes once I get done selling as many of them as I can.

I just took the 3 and half boxes of “things I want to set on fire” to Half Price books today along with a collection of random textbooks I used in college 11 years ago, classroom books for programs that are 5 years out of date/I don’t own anymore, and books that fit on high school required reading lists… I got 45.50 for the whole lot. Also I took my old 1955 Encyclopedia set that use to use to flatten posters. I didn’t get anything for those it’s just easier to let Half Price recycle them then to try it myself.

It is interesting looking at my collection. The further back I go the more destroyed the comics get. I really read the tar out of some of those poor comics. I have a lot of good memories attached to my collection.

Tomorrow I’m hoping to stop using cleaning as an excuse to avoid work and actually get some art work started. It could happen right?

The Christmas spirit and Blue Genie and viruses

The Christmas spirit and Blue Genie and viruses

Man, the Christmas drivers are out today with their helpful middle fingers extended for anyone that doesn’t want to drive at 20 mph. I’m not sure if it helps or hurts that my responses is “yeah, yeah, don’t care, get out of the way.” =D I should probably not tailgate but dude 20? Really?

Put up my “Circle of Cute” shirts at Blue Genie. Things are going really well over there so I keep putting in new art and products. I’m still behind on some of my stuff though. I need to get the pendants/pathtags out. I’d suggest if you want Christmas cards to get them now because I think I may sell out. I still have some for now but I’m watching them.

Looks like my parent’s computers are infected with some sort of spam/virus thing. We were just searching for maps of Mesopotamia and hit the wrong website. It didn’t help that I didn’t realize we were using Internet Exploder. =/ I got a packet sniffer for my Mac to see if they were still infected after we scanned them and yeah… they keep doing suspicious things. I took them off the internet after that. No idea what’s infected them. So far I’ve tried Ad-aware and Microsoft security essentials. Spybot search and destroy won’t install without connecting to the internet, which I’m not willing to do currently.

So that’s been fun. I’m writing this from my Mac which is pretty much laughing but my PC laptop got something I’m not sure how since none of the computers are connected. I don’t know. It’s been sucking.

Everything else has been okay. It’s really weird though, I mean life… in general. I’m not sure what to make of this year or how I feel about my art stuff. I’ve done more art this year then the last few years put together but I’ve also shifted my focus quite a lot. So I feel a bit adrift. Still change has been good in a lot of ways. Would like to do something with more story at some point. I really miss crafting a narrative.

Not sure, things have been weird.

I bought some awesome shoes last weekend. They look like shoes a witch would wear and they have a 3 inch heel. I have no idea how to walk in them but they are so cute. I’ve been wearing them on and off trying to break them or my foot in. One of the two has to give at some point. They make my right foot feel really weird after a little bit.

I should talk about New York Comic Con and the 2 weeks a hung around my friend’s place in New York but later. Now I’m going to make me some bright yellow soup. Nom nom. Soup.

Heading off to New York Comic Con

Heading off to New York Comic Con

Wooooo, I’m going to get on a plane today for New York Comic Con. I have no idea what to expect and since it’s just a con for me to wander around and relax I feel uneasy and weird. LOL, the last con I was going to go and relax at, Animefest, I didn’t even manage to get to. Worries. Gah, and it’s going to be cold there so I’ll have to pack my tiny amount of warm clothing.

I should hopefully run into people I know and get to talk to them. Excitement!

I’ll be staying out in New York for an extra week after the con since that was the cheapest plane ticket I could get and my friend out there was very nice to give me a place to stash myself for sleeping. I’m packing some of the manga I couldn’t sell off in Texas to sell to a used bookstore in New York called “Book Off”. I went to them in Japan when I visited and they do have them in the states. I can’t dump this much Japanese manga at a normal used book store so I’m hoping that they’ll buy back this stuff so I won’t have it in my house.

I’ll still be able to get to the internet out there so I should still randomly update.

I’ve been reading a bunch of manga on the internet. I read through all of “Initial D” and really like it. The scanlations stop at book 7 and someone scanned the Tokyopop versions of it up to book 15. They are horrible. Between the typewriter font for square boxed writing (which varies from a character’s thoughts to machine specs of a car), to the characters saying things that are completely out of character, and the added American slang and names… I had a hard time with them.

Needless to say even if I wanted to pick up the English version of the series I probably would rather get them in Japanese and not know what was going on. =/ At least I could enjoy the art, as weird as that is on “Initial D” it’s sort of an old school style though it’s grown on me a lot.

I am amused that “Initial D” is 15 years old and 40 books long… but only a year of real time has passed in the manga. It’s roughly 1996 in the manga but the artist has kind of waved their hands and just gone ahead and included some stuff, like tiny cell phones, that make me think it’s not strictly 1996. The cars are really awesomely drawn in the book. I checked out some other street racing books and honestly the cars seem to be the tough point for a lot of artists. I didn’t realize how good they looked until I compared it to others.

It’s a fun series and I’m not big on street racing or cars honestly. But I really like the set up for the main character and enjoy that he’s generally not a cocky asshole or the awesomely over talented beginner. LOL. The anime has much more even translation… at least subtitled. The dub for it is pretty bad though. And the races are a little easier to understand when you can see the cars moving instead of staring at still images.

Randomly they made a arcade game for “Initial D” where you could play the game in real cars on motion simulators. Which I thoughts was super neat.

Anyway I’m rambling. I thought I’d update you guys and what’s happening before I leave. But I should get back to packing now. =D I hope to see some of you guys in New York.

Oh and these are the last few days of my shirt at woot. If you can, please give me a vote! I’ve been in the fog the whole derby again so I’m hoping I can manage to place with another shirt.

Threadless sale, Gallery show, printer 4 sale

Threadless sale, Gallery show, printer 4 sale

One day left! Threadless is offering T-shirts for 9 bucks each. I’m kind of bummed that all of the shirts I want are still out of stock or currently not a color I like. But I thought I’d share the sales page if any of you guys out there wanted a shirt from Threadless at half off.

This weekend was sort of crappy, most of my plans fell through. I had to cancel going to AnimeFest which sucked but was probably the best thing considering the emergencies that cropped up. Sorry to anyone who thought they be able to bump into me. I was really hoping to be there.

I also had to replace 2 tires on my car which turned out to be a good thing though expensive. One of my tires was worn down to the metal on the inside so they had to adjust my alignment as well. It was a good that I hadn’t decided to drive to Animefest in my car. The plus is that my car feels a lot smoother though not as smooth as I’d like. But I think it’s because I need to replace the other two tires. This time though I’m going to look for a better deal instead of rushing out. Still I did need the tires replaced, I’d hate to have a flat on the road. I suck at putting on tires since I have a real hard time turning and tightening the lug nuts. =/

One good thing that happened though is they extended the gallery show I’m in. I currently have some of my art for sale at the Hideout Theater/coffee house downtown. All the art is going to be up for September as well, so I extended my area and put up some more art. Please check it out if your in the Austin area.

I wish I didn’t have such a hard time focusing. I feel like I have too many things to keep track of but I have plenty of time I’m just bad at organizing myself. It’s really frustrating. I am however starting to reorganize my living space. Which is a good step forward.

So I have things that I need to get rid of.

Does anyone local to Austin need a laser printer? I have a small Black and White one that I no longer need. It still prints fine but it needs a new toner cartridge. It’s a Lexmark e310, I’m willing to sell it for like 15.00, I just really need to get it out of the house. Please comment and let me know. =D
